INTRODUCTION
Creativity, intelligence and sheer folly
In our intensely competitive world, great emphasis is placed on intellect, creativity, innovation and achievement.
In this series of lectures we will look at some of history's greatest achievers, asking whether we can learn from their accomplishments. We will also hear of creativity, innovation and intuition. We will ask whether those of us who feel ourselves to be intuitive are more likely to get it right than those of us who do not. We will probe human 'intelligence', exploring the testing and grading of IQ. We will also hear of originality, with a focus on technology, and perhaps shedding some light on the creative processes in play today.
By exploring these areas, and by examining some monumental scientific errors of judgement, we hope to learn not just of human 'intelligence', but of that other very human characteristic: folly.
