Group dynamics and the failure of innovation

Carl Franklin

Carl Franklin is a technology analyst at Bridgewell Securities and the author of the critically-acclaimed book Why Innovation Fails.

He spent a decade in Fleet Street working as a technology reporter, and helped to launch Sunday Business, where he was science and technology editor.

He plans several more books on the subject of technology and culture, including an in-depth look at the role of hype in innovation.

In this talk he argues that many past failures could have been avoided if the entrepreneurs behind them had spent more time understanding their own behaviour and that of their consumers.
