Man, beast and zombie
Speaker: Kenan Malik
21st April 2001
Are humans just animals? Are minds just machines? And what does it say about our age that such ides appear both scientifically plausible and culturally acceptable? Kenan Malik provides a critique of both the science of human nature and of the culture that has given rise to it. Weaving together science, philosophy and history, he offers a startling new perspective on the contemporary world.
Kenan Malik trained as a neurobiologist and was a research psychologist at Sussex University. He is now a writer and lecturer, and is author of Man, Beast and Zombie, as well as of the acclaimed study of racism, The Meaning of Race.
