An exploration of how the emotions of grief, rage and compassion were central to the tribal politics and development of leadership among the Bosavi people during the time of tribal autonomy prior to the imposition of colonial government in the early 1950s.
Edward Schieffelin is Reader in Anthropology at University College London. He has spent more than five years working with the Bosavi people of Papua New Guinea since 1966 and is the author of two books and numerous chapters and articles
