Learn to Remember: practical memory techniques to tackle forgetfulness
Dominic O'Brien
Dominic O'Brien will describe what it takes to become World Memory Champion and detail some of the annual events he participates in as part of his title. He will perform several demonstrations: memorising numbers, share prices, calendar dates, names and faces, and playing cards. He will also reveal secrets of developing a powerful memory using imagination, association, location, and brainwave control. He will get the audience to perform a feat of memory themselves which will help illustrate how his methods can be used by anyone to improve one's own memory.
Dominic O'Brien is the current and 8 times winner of The World Memory Championships. In the latest championships he faced 23 top memorisers from around the world in a series of events, ranging from recalling a 1,560 digit number to 18 decks of cards. Since he began developing his memory 14 years ago, Dominic has gained many prestigious titles and has won many entries in The Guinness Book of Records. He was named 'Brain of the Year 1994' and was awarded the title 'Grand Master of Memory' by the Brain Trust of Great Britain in October 1995. This award was presented to him by Prince Philip of Leichtenstein. Dominic's phenomenal talents have also made him a celebrity around the world - he is a regular on both radio and TV. In 1995 he was the subject of ITV's Network First's Fear and Counting in Las Vegas.
