Professor Kate Loewenthal


Professor Kate Loewenthal is Professor of Psychology at Royal Holloway College in the University of London. She started her academic career with interests in both cognitive and social psychology, and then developed an interest in the psychology of religion. She is married to Tali Loewenthal, and both she and her husband are orthodox Hasidic Jews with a large family.

This has focused her attention on the psychological effects of family size, leading to a number of research projects and articles on mental health issues in different religious groups, including Protestant Christian, Muslim and Jewish. Her books include Mental Health and Religion (1996). She is Editor of mental Health, Religion and Culture
