This page sets out how we think about responsible gambling at Lizaro, what tools are available on the account, and where to turn if play stops feeling like something you're in control of. None of this is a lecture — it's the practical detail we'd want if we were asking the question ourselves.
The honest framing
Gambling is entertainment with a real cost attached, not a way to make money or fix a shortfall. Every spin, hand or bet carries a house edge, and over time that edge is what pays for the games existing at all. Treating a session as a possible income stream is the single most common way things go wrong, and it's worth saying plainly rather than assuming everyone already knows it.
Behaviour that should worry you
A few patterns are worth watching for in your own play. Chasing a loss with a bigger bet than you'd normally place is one. Borrowing to fund a deposit, or lying to someone close to you about how much you've spent, is another. So is losing track of time during a session, or feeling irritable when you try to stop. None of these need to happen often before they're worth acting on.
A short self-assessment
These are yes/no questions, not a diagnosis — but a run of "yes" answers is a reasonable prompt to use one of the tools below.
- Have you spent more than you planned to in the last month?
- Have you gambled to escape a low mood or a bad day?
- Have you lied to someone about how much you've deposited or lost?
- Have you tried to win back a loss with a larger bet?
- Has gambling affected your sleep, work, or a relationship?
- Have you borrowed money, or sold something, to keep playing?
- Do you feel you need to gamble to feel normal?
Our account controls
We offer self-exclusion on the account, which removes your access for the period you choose. It's a deliberate step rather than a pause you can undo on impulse, which is exactly the point of it — the barrier is meant to hold when the urge to lift it is strongest. If you'd like to set it up, our support team can talk you through it.
Since 6 April 2025, UK-licensed gambling operators have funded harm research, prevention and treatment through a statutory levy on gross gambling yield, replacing the older system of voluntary donations to charities in the sector — a shift worth knowing about even outside any one operator's own tools.
Taking a break
A short break doesn't need to be permanent or dramatic. Stepping away for a week, logging out mid-session when a losing run starts to sting, or simply setting a personal time limit before you start are all reasonable ways to keep play where you want it. Self-exclusion is there for when a break needs to be firmer than that.
Support organisations in the UK
If gambling has stopped feeling like something you're choosing, free and confidential help is available outside of any operator. GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, free and open 24/7. BeGambleAware.org offers information and support tools. GamStop is the UK's national self-exclusion scheme, covering 6 months, 1 year or 5 years across licensed sites, and Gordon Moody provides residential and online treatment for more serious cases.
Blocking software
Tools like Gamban and the free BetBlocker block gambling sites at the device level, which is a useful backstop alongside self-exclusion rather than instead of it.
Protecting minors
Access to gambling content is restricted to those aged 18+. If a device you use is shared with a child, parental-control software such as Net Nanny or Qustodio can prevent access regardless of account settings.
